The third annual Medina Lake Barbeque Cook-off was held Friday and Saturday, May 16-17, 2008, at the Lakehills Civic Center. Here is some of what went on:

Debbie Bowen, left, and Marilynn Schott sold cowgirl visors at the barbecue cookoff. Bowen called her creation "Hats Off" and Schott called them "Texas Halos."

The fourth annual Medina Lake Barbeque Cook-off will be held Friday and Saturday, May 15-16, 2009, at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Lakehills.

    Over 20 teams competed in Medina Lake Barbeque Cookoff May 16-17, 2008

    Some 21 barbecue teams fired up their grills at Medina Lake Barbeque Cookoff Saturday, May 17, at the Lakehills Civic Center.
    Three Star Redneck Cookers was the big winner taking grand champion, first place brisket, first place chicken and first place beans.
    Cactus Flat Cookers won first place chef's choice. They cooked fajitas.
    Pirates of the Lake took first place ribs.
    JD Team Xtreme Barbecue won showmanship. Head cook JD Davidsmeyer of San Antonio brought a fire engine as part of their San Antonio Firefighters theme.
